Rookie DBs Coming Up Big For Vikings
EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) — Harrison Smith and Josh Robinson don't have any time for the rookie wall. The Minnesota Vikings defensive backs are too busy coming up with game-changing plays to help their team chase down a playoff spot.
Smith was a first-round draft choice out of Notre Dame in April. He's been a starter since the season opener and made the biggest play of his season last weekend when he returned an interception for a touchdown against the Bears.
Robinson, a third-round draft pick, also intercepted a pass and had a big return to set up a touchdown run by Adrian Peterson in the 21-14 victory.
Defensive coordinator Alan Williams says he's impressed by how the young players have handled the grueling season.
The Vikings play at St. Louis on Sunday.
