Ron Paul Supporters To Make Mark At St. Cloud GOP Meeting
ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Texas Congressman Ron Paul is no longer actively campaigning for president, but his supporters are still expected to make some noise this weekend when Minnesota Republicans hold their state convention in St. Cloud.
Paul's campaign is still seeking delegates to the national GOP convention in August. In Minnesota, Paul's supporters have seized many delegate and alternate slots in hopes of influencing national convention delegate selection.
Paul himself speaks Friday night, but the main order of business for Republicans is endorsing a Senate candidate to challenge incumbent Democrat Amy Klobuchar. Paul's supporters are likely to influence that decision too.
The convention follows months of instability in the Minnesota GOP, including financial problems and a high-profile sex scandal in the state Senate.
