Ron Paul Speaks To Supporters In Minn.
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul has had a busy Saturday in Minnesota with a key caucus in the state just three days away.
Paul spoke to nearly 700 supporters at an event Saturday morning in Rochester.
"The item is liberty," Paul told his supporters. "The item is freedom of choice on how we want to run our own lives."
Paul spoke his message of personal liberty and fiscal responsibility. He is an advocate of a smaller federal government, and his libertarian-leaning views make him an attractive candidate for many young conservatives.
He followed his Rochester visit up with a town hall style meeting in Chanhassen, where about 600 supporters showed up to hear his message.
"We have to make a decision," Paul said Saturday. "Do we want to follow the advice of the founders and the Constitution and say that the purpose of the Constitution is ... to restrain the government?"
Paul also attracted a crowd of 1,500 at Bethel University in Arden Hills.
Paul skipped the Nevada caucuses to gain early support in the Minnesota caucuses, which are scheduled for Tuesday night.
Paul is scheduled to be in Minnesota on Monday for two rallies. The first one will take place in St. Cloud at the River's Edge Convention Center at 4 p.m. The second will take place in Minneapolis at the Minneapolis Conventions Center at 7 p.m.
Rick Santorum is expected to be in Minnesota ahead of the caucus on Sunday.
