Romney & Isaac Are The Big Names At RNC
FALCON HEIGHTS, Minn. (WCCO) – The two big names to watch at the Republican National Convention are Mitt and Isaac.
Tropical Storm Isaac just missed the Florida coast and the RNC, but it's forcing the RNC to cram 4 days into 3.
RNC chairman Reince Priebus opened the convention but canceled Monday's proceedings.
"So it is my privilege to proclaim the 2012 Republican National Convention in session and called to order," Priebus said.
The Republican ticket won't arrive in Tampa until Tuesday. Mitt and Ann Romney took some time to practice their convention speeches at a New Hampshire high school.
"I like my speech. I really like Ann's speech," Romney said.
And in Janesville, Wisconsin, there was an emotional send-off for Vice Presidential pick Paul Ryan.
"Everywhere I look, there are so many familiar faces. It's... it's just... it's very moving. And… [Audience member shouts, 'I love you!'] I love you too," Ryan said.
One political image we'll see for the next week is the national debt clock, which was installed in the convention hall. And another clock will show how much the debt has rising during the RNC. It quickly totaled into the millions just during the Convention's opening.
Monday's session was cancelled and Wednesday's in doubt too.
Republicans are worried about what it would look like to be partying in Tampa if New Orleans goes underwater.
