Road Work Hampers Highway 62, 169 and I-35W This Weekend
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- There are three potential headaches awaiting motorists in the metro this weekend.
A section of Highway 62 -- between Highway 100 and 35W -- is closed in both directions for the weekend, as crews are demolishing the Penn Avenue Bridge. The closure will last until 5 Monday morning, and detours are posted.
In Shakopee, traffic on 169 is down to a single lane in each direction. Cars will travel north and south using the northbound lanes through Aug. 9.
It's all part of the Bloomington Ferry Bridge project. A number of exits in the area will also be closed.
The southbound lanes of I-35W will be closed between Highway 280 and I-94 in Minneapolis. Crews will be fixing drains, signs, lights and removing trees and vegetation from the roadway.
The lanes will reopen by rush hour Monday.
