Road Construction Closing More Metro Highways This Weekend
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – It's going to be another busy weekend for road construction, which means more closures are on the way for Twin Cities highways.
Interstate 94 will close at 8 p.m. Friday between Highway 280 and Interstate 35E for construction with the Central Corridor Light Rail Transit and the removal of the Chatsworth Pedestrian Bridge. Both directions of I-94 will be closed by 10 p.m. Friday and should be back open by 5 a.m. Monday.
Interstate 35E in St. Paul will be closed between the 10th/Wacouta Street exit and 11th Street, also for the CCLRT project. Both directions of I-35E will be closed by 10 p.m. Friday and should be back open by 5 a.m. Monday.
I-35W from Columbus to Lexington Avenue in Blaine will have southbound lanes closed at 10 p.m. Friday for pavement repair. The highway should be back open in time for the Monday rush hour.
The southbound lanes of Interstate 494 between County Road 6 in Plymouth and I-394 in Minnetonka will close at 10 p.m. Friday for resurfacing. Officials said that stretch should be back open by 5 a.m. Sunday.
Highway 65 in Minneapolis will be closed between Broadway Street NE and Sprint Street NE will close from 5 a.m. Saturday to 8 a.m. Sunday to repair a pipe under the road.
