Road Closed: Flooding Shuts Down Multiple Highways In Southern & Western MN
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Flooding has prompted officials to close multiple highways in southern Minnesota Thursday.
According to the Minnesota Department of Transportation, Minnesota State Highway 20 is closed in both directions at Minnesota Highway 50 near Miesville, Minnesota.
MnDOT also says Highway 16 south of Lanseboro is also closed due to flooding.
And, as of 4:15 p.m., MnDOT had also closed Highway 210 in west central Minnesota, from Highway 9 to Interstate 94, until further notice as a result of dangerous driving conditions. A no travel advisory was also issued for Highway 75 from Moorhead to the Clay-Norman County Line near Perley.
On Wednesday, heavy rain and melting snow also shut down Highway 60 near Wabasha and Highway 42 between Elgin and Plainview.
Highway 42 was later opened to traffic, but high water concerns remain.

The southeast part of the state has seen major flooding before. First in 1965, when river levels climbed more than 20 feet above flood stage and again when they hit 18 feet in 2001.
MnDOT told motorists they should plan trips accordingly, and reminded drivers that they are subject to finds of up to $1,000 for driving on roads that have been closed.
