Richfield Man Pleads Guilty To Threatening Co-Workers
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 44-year-old Richfield man has pleaded guilty Monday to mailing a letter that contained a threat to kill and injure several employees of the Embassy Suites Hotel in Bloomington where he also worked.
Peter Winston Beckles specifically pleaded guilty to one count of mailing a threatening communication. He was charged on March 7, 2011.
In a plea agreement, Beckles admitted to mailing the letter on June 1, 2010 to the Bloomington hotel's parent company, the Hilton Hotel, in Memphis, Tenn. The letter described the race-based hostilities he harbored toward some of his co-workers at the Bloomington hotel. The letter also included threats to injure and even kill some of them.
For his crime, Beckles faces a maximum penalty of five years in federal prison.
His sentence will be determined by a judge at a future hearing, which is yet to be scheduled.
