Vikings: Percy Harvin Traded To Seahawks
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – It appears that wide receiver Percy Harvin is no longer with the Minnesota Vikings.
An official with the Minnesota Vikings has confirmed with WCCO-TV's Mike Max that Harvin has been traded to the Seattle Seahawks. The transaction is pending Harvin taking a physical in Seattle, which is expected to happen Monday. The exact details of the trade are not known at this time.
Harvin was one of the Vikings top offensive players last season until he got hurt in a loss at Seattle. He hurt his ankle, was placed on injured reserve and never returned to the team even through their run to a wildcard playoff berth.
Since the season ended, Vikings General Manager Rick Spielman said the team had "no intent" on trading Harvin. The move now leaves the Vikings plenty of money to sign a free agent wide receiver. Free agency starts Tuesday.
Harvin played in nine games last year, making eight starts. He finished with 62 catches for 677 yards and three touchdowns. He also had a rushing touchdown and was one of the top kick returning threats in the NFL. He played four seasons with the Vikings and was on pace to have his best year last season before getting hurt.
Adrian Peterson took to Twitter to express his feelings on the trade of his teammate.
"The best all around player I ever seen or you'll ever see! Goes to Seattle! I feel like I just got kicked in the stomach. Several times!!!" wrote Peterson. "I wish my boy Percy nothing but success! God bless you homie."
Seahawks' quarterback Russell Wilson tweeted: "Great things to come for the Emerald City!!!"
