Rep. State Sen. Pederson Jumps In 6th District Race
ST. CLOUD, Minn. (WCCO) -- Republican State Senator John Pederson has joined the race to try to succeed Congresswoman Michele Bachmann in Minnesota's 6th District.
"I have very strong beliefs about the future of our country," Pederson said. "I believe I have the qualifications that will enable me to effectively represent the interests of the people in the 6th Congressional District."
Pederson officially launched his campaign Thursday and said he wants to be a voice for small businesses and for fiscal responsibility in Washington.
Pederson says he wants to reduce the federal deficit and appeal the new health care law.
Pederson joins former Gubernatorial candidate Tom Emmer, and Anoka County Board Chairperson Rhonda Sivarajah as the three Republican candidates who've declared intentions to run.
The only Democrat to announce candidacy so far is Circle Pines environmental activist Judy Adams.
