Rep. Rick Nolan Opposes Taking Military Action Against Syria
WASHINGTON (WCCO) -- U.S. Representative for Minnesota's 8th congressional district Rick Nolan is challenging the evidence that's been presented on the reported use of chemical weapons by Syria against its people.
Rep. Rick Nolan Interview
"There are serious questions about who is responsible for the chemical weapons, and serious questions about what a strike would accomplish," Nolan, a Democrat, said.
He believes the matter should be handled by the International Criminal Court.
"We cannot tolerate or accept the use of chemical weapons regardless of who is responsible for that," he said. "But that's why we have the International Criminal Court, and that's where we have taken other leaders who area guilty of crimes against humanity and prosecuted them. And that's what we should do in this instance."
Congress is expected to begin debate on the issue sometime next week.
