Rochester Religious Conventions Brings Economic Boon
ROCHESTER, Minn. (AP) -- About 4,000 members of the Christian Congregation of Jehovah Witnesses are gathering in Rochester this weekend and pumping money into the local economy.
The convention is the third of five district meetings in Rochester by the organization this year. In 2010, the Jehovah Witnesses conventions had an economic impact estimated at $6.2 million.
Rochester Convention & Visitors Bureau executive director Brad Jones tells the Post-Bulletin the Jehovah Witnesses weekend conventions have the largest economic impact on the city than any other convention.
