Red River Appears To Have Crested In Fargo Area
FARGO, N.D. (AP) — The National Weather Service says the Red River appears to have crested in Fargo — and below flood stage.
Weather service meteorologist Jeff Makowski says the river was measured at 17.1 feet Monday morning and "looks to be on its way down." Flood stage is 18 feet.
Residents of Fargo and Moorhead, Minn., are coming off three straight years of major spring flooding. That included a record crest of nearly 41 feet in 2009.
Earlier weather service forecasts had called for a crest this year of 19 feet.
