Red Cross Says It's In 'Urgent' Need Of Blood

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Officials with the American Red Cross said Tuesday they are in urgent need of blood donations now that the Fourth of July has passed.

The American Red Cross has issued an emergency appeal for blood donors of all types, with an increased need for O-negative, B-negative and A-negative. Officials said there is also a "critical need" for platelet donors.

If you'd like to donate blood, find your nearest location by calling the American Red Cross at 1-800-REDCROSS or visiting redcrossblood.org. You'll need a blood donor card or driver's license and two other forms of ID. You must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and be in generally good health to donate.
