Rally Star: Edina's Devin Crawford-Tufts
EDINA, Minn. (WCCO) -- This week's "Rally Star," a feature on local prep sports athletes, is Edina's Devin Crawford-Tufts.
Who: Senior wide receiver Devin Crawford-Tufts of Edina
Why: Watch his stride and you can see how he won three state track sprint titles. But it's on the football field where he's turning heads this fall. He's a wide receiver who can outrun his opponents -- and is good enough to get two Big Ten offers. (He chose Minnesota over Wisconsin.)
On Working on His Hands: "That was my biggest problem because it's only my third year as a wide receiver. I was quarterback and middle linebacker before, so I've been learning how to catch the ball, which I've gotten a lot better at."
What the Coach Says: "He's just got that gift, that explosiveness, that speed that you just can't coach," said Coach Reed Boltman."He's a track kid that learned how to play football. ... Athletes like that make me a lot better coach."
