Rally Held To 'Protect' Saturday Mail Delivery In Mpls.
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A rally was held Sunday afternoon for concerned citizens pushing to keep mail delivery on Saturdays.
The Postal Service announced plans to cut its Saturday delivery in early February, stating moving to a five-day mail delivery would save about $2 billion.
The transition to a new delivery schedule was slated to take place during the week of Aug. 5, 2013.
Sunday's rally was held at the Minneapolis Main Post Office. Participants said the Postal Service's plan to move to end a six-day service is "an attack on the future of this great institution, on the customers who need it and on the employees who support it."
Gov. Mark Dayton was among the speakers at the rally.
