Principal: Maple Grove H.S. Lockdown Caused By Knife
MAPLE GROVE (WCCO) -- A report of a knife on Maple Grove Senior High School's campus caused a lockdown Wednesday, according to school officials.
According to Principal Sara Vernig, the school went into a brief lockdown at around noon due to a report of a knife on campus. Police responded and the knife was confiscated quickly.
After 30 minutes, the lockdown was canceled and school resumed on a regular schedule.
No one was injured, threatened or in danger, according to Vernig.
"As was the case today, when there are potential safety concerns in our building, we respond immediately and follow our emergency plan," said Vernig in a message to students' families. "Our students and staff take the safety of our school and each other very seriously."
Police and the school district are investigating the incident separately.
