President Obama Attends Boston Interfaith Prayer Service
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Three days after the deadly bombings at the Boston Marathon, an interfaith prayer service was held at the Holy Cross in Boston, just three days after the tragedy occurred.
President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama sat at the front of the cathedral for the services. Around two thousand people, including religious leaders as well as former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney attended the service. The service featured music and song by the Boston Children's Chorus.
The Boston Globe reported that people started lining up three hours prior to the service to find seating. Half of the seats were reserved for families of the victims, police, and other first responders from Monday's tragedy.
During his speech, President Obama said while this it is a time of loss and for mourning, he encouraged people to find hope that the city of Boston and the nation will heal.
"As you begin this long journey of recovery, your city is with you, your common wealth is wealth is with you, your country is with you," President Obama said. "We will all be with you as you learn to stand and walk and yes run again, of that I have no doubt you will run again."
