Preps Begin For Possible Record Flooding In St. Paul
ST. PAUL (WCCO) -- Temperatures are expected to get above freezing every day this week. So more of the snow and ice will melt along Minnesota's rivers.
Authorities hope there will be melting during the day and freezing at night so the water gradually goes into the rivers and the threat of flooding won't be as bad.
But they are preparing for the possibility of record flooding along the Mississippi River in St. Paul.
"We always hope for the best and plan for the worst. So the city of St. Paul is working very diligently on making sure they can protect their infrastructure, so the things like waste water treatment centers and sewer intakes," said Kris Eide, director of Homeland Security and Emergency Management.
Eide said you'll probably start seeing the Mississippi River start rising in the Twin Cities next week.
