Winning MN Powerball Ticket Sold In Anoka County
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO/AP) -- Minnesota lottery officials announced Thursday morning that the winning ticket in Wednesday night's massive Powerball jackpot was sold in Anoka County.
Minnesota had a single winning ticket for the $448 million jackpot, with two others sold in New Jersey. Lottery officials said the ticket is worth more than $149 million, or about $86 million if the winner chooses the cash option.
Spokeswoman Debbie Hoffmann says it's Minnesota's 22nd jackpot winner in the big game. Hoffmann says the state's big jackpot winners have typically waited about a week before contacting lottery officials.
The winner has a year from the date of drawing to claim it. Once the winner comes forward, they have 60 days to choose whether they'll take an annuity payment of $149.4 million or the cash option of the lump sum, which is about $86 million before taxes. After tax withholding, it comes out to more than $58 million. Hoffman says winners usually take an immediate payout rather than installments over time.
If the winner chooses annuity payments, the first one would be about $2.6 million before taxes and would go up 4 percent each year over 30 years.
The winning numbers drawn Wednesday night were: 5, 25, 30, 58, 59 and Powerball 32.
The winner should sign the back of their ticket immediately, put it in a safe place and contact the Minnesota State Lottery's Public Relations Department at (651) 635-8271.
