Powerball Jackpot Estimated At $320 Million

ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) – What would you do with $320 million? Your dream home becomes a reality, you can buy that lavish car you've always wanted and now you can have that lakefront property and boat. You can get that country club membership and buy those season tickets to all your favorite sports teams.

How about early retirement? What was once only something to daydream about suddenly becomes a reality if anyone wins Wednesday night's Powerball.

That's because the Powerball jackpot is at an estimated grand prize of more than $320 million after nobody won Saturday night's drawing. It's a pot that's been building since June. It's the fourth-largest jackpot in the history of the game, which is played in Minnesota and more than 40 other states.

The lottery buzz is making for busy gas stations across Minnesota and the rest of the nation as players dream of what they could do with all the money.  The latest winning numbers will be announced by the Minnesota State Lottery at about 10 p.m. Wednesday.

Since January, ticket prices were raised to $2 each. John Mellein of the Minnesota State Lottery says the higher price is good for the players and the lotteries.

"Because the jackpot now starts and $40 million but it grows faster and it grows bigger," Mellein said. "And that's what players have said they wanted in this game."

The cash option for tonight's jackpot is $213 million.
