Polk Co. Investigator Takes Stand In Fatal Fishing Dispute Trial
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Day two is underway in the trial for a Cambridge man accused of stabbing to death a father of five in a fishing dispute.
Peter Kelly, 34, of St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin, died last spring after he and a friend confronted a group of anglers along the St. Croix River who they thought were smoking pot and swearing. Levi Acre-Kendall, 20, is charged with stabbing Kelly during that fight.
A Polk County Investigator took the witness stand Tuesday morning. He videotaped the scene in Interstate Park where Kelly died.
That tape was played for the jurors. They saw Kelly's Subaru with the back window broken.
(Kelly's friend testified Monday that he broke that window to get his cell phone to call 911.) The investigator then walked several hundred feet away to show where Kelly died.
Acre-Kendall is expected to testify in his own defense and say that he stabbed Kelly in self-defense.
The trial is expected to go into next week.
