Politicians To Inspect Flood-Fighting Efforts
FARGO, N.D. (AP) -- North Dakota Gov. Jack Dalrymple planned to meet with Army Corps of Engineers officials on Friday to get an update on flood protection along the Red River.
U.S. Sens. John Hoeven and Kent Conrad also were to take part but canceled because of the effort in Washington to head off a government shutdown. Hoeven and Conrad also canceled a meeting with Valley City Mayor Bob Werkhoven on Friday afternoon to get a briefing on flood protection efforts in that city.
Dalrymple was to inspect dikes, levees and sandbagging efforts in the Fargo area.
Several Minnesota legislators planned to survey flood protection efforts in North Ottawa, Breckenridge and Moorhead.
