Police: St. Joseph Man Chased, Shot At Estranged Wife
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A 66-year-old St. Joseph man was arrested Saturday after allegedly chasing down his estranged wife and firing several gunshots at her vehicle in St. Cloud, according to the Stearns County Sheriff's Office.
Authorities said the incident happened at about 9:58 a.m. The sheriff's office said it was receiving several 911 calls of two vehicles traveling southeast on Highway 4 from Highway 2 in St. Cloud. It appeared one vehicle was chasing the other, and at times the second vehicle rammed the other vehicle. Gunshots were also fired at the vehicle being pursued.
The vehicle being pursued stopped in St. Cloud after a crash with the vehicle pursuing it, and the suspect then reportedly fired several shots into the stopped vehicle.
The suspect vehicle fled the scene and was located by a Stearns County Sheriff's deputy near the Sauk River bridge, where the man was taken into custody on suspicion of first-degree assault. He was identified as Gary Dennis Vogt.
Authorties said a 63-year-old woman who the man allegedly fired at was taken to St. Cloud Hospital with at least one gunshot wound. Her injuries were considered non-life threatening.
The Stearns County Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by police departments from St. Cloud, Sartell, St. Joseph and Waite Park. The incident remains under investigation, and anyone with information should call the Stearns County Sheriff's Office at (320) 251-4240.
