Police Shoot Armed Man To Death In Brooklyn Center
BROOKLYN CENTER, Minn. (WCCO) – Police say a man was shot to death in Brooklyn Center Thursday night after he was seen carrying a rifle down a residential street.
The incident happened around 8:32 p.m. on the 5300 block of Emerson Avenue North. Brooklyn Center police responded to an adult male walking down the street carrying a rifle with a scope.
When the first officer arrived on the scene, the officer observed that the man was yielding a rifle. As the officer approached the man, the officer was forced to shoot the man, who died at the scene. No other people were injured in the incident.
The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office is taking over the investigation from Brooklyn Center Police and say it's being investigated as an officer-involved shooting.
