Police: Serial Fast-Food Armed Robbery Suspect Caught
MAPLE GROVE, Minn. (WCCO) - Maple Grove Police have arrested a man suspected of a month-long armed-robbery spree that mostly targeted fast-food restaurants along the Interstate 94 corridor.
According to authorities, Douglas Wayne Gravelle was taken into custody on Thursday.
This arrest comes after a string of armed robberies which began in early September. Fast-food restaurants in Sauk Rapids, St. Cloud, Big Lake, Clearwater and Monticello were targeted. He also robbed a GameStop video game store in Monticello earlier this month.
Police say Gravelle was described as having a calm and polite demeanor during the robberies.
According to court documents, Gravelle's ex-wife turned him into police, saying he wore the same outfit from the robberies at a child support hearing.
Police went to his house in Sartell and saw the same dark-colored Durango from the Maple Grove Burger King robbery earlier this month.
Gravelle is being held on aggravated robbery and kidnapping charges.
