Police Seek Driver Who Smashed Through Corrections Building In Hudson
HUDSON, Wis. (WCCO) – Police in Hudson, Wis., are looking for a person who apparently drove a car through the front entrance of the community corrections building Monday morning, started a fire inside and then fled the scene.
Authorities said the incident happened just before 6:30 a.m. Monday as they responded to a report of property damage. Police said a car had gone through the community corrections building on McNeil Road. The driver then apparently threw an incendiary device into the lobby of the building, which started a fire. The driver then fled the scene.
Authorities said the building has a sprinkler system that quickly put the fire out. Damage in the building was limited to the front foyer and two adjacent offices. Police said the entrance that was damaged was the main door for probation and parole offices.
Police don't have any suspects in custody at this time, but anyone who might have seen a vehicle with front end damage leaving the area between 5:10 a.m. and 6:25 a.m. is asked to call the St. Croix County Sheriff's Office.
The Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigation is investigating the incident along with Hudson Police and the St. Croix County Sheriff's Office.
