Police Seek 2nd Suspect In Armed Robbery Of Bar

WHITE BEAR LAKE, Minn. (WCCO) -- Police say one man is in jail and officers are looking for another after the armed robbery of a White Bear Lake bar.

T.J. Ricci, the owner of the White Bear Bar, said they had locked the door for last call a little before 2 a.m. Saturday morning. There were about 50 patrons still inside. When a few walked out, two men with guns who had been waiting outside grabbed the customers and forced them back inside.

The heavy-set intruders wore hooded sweatshirts and ski masks. The owner said one of them fired a shot into the ground, and shrapnel hit a patron in the buttocks. The men held guns to people's heads, according to the owner. One of them put a gun to the owner's wife's head and forced her to the safe in the back of the bar.

The owner said another patron tried to get one of the guns and his hand was cut. Of the two injured patrons, police said one was treated at the scene. The other was taken to a hospital. Neither of the injuries are life-threatening.

The robbers left with some money, the owner said. A man outside behind the bar saw them get into a vehicle and called 911. Police said they found the vehicle and arrested one suspect, pending charges of armed robbery and aggravated assault. He is 33 years old. Police are still looking for another suspect.
