Police Searching For Missing Woman In Chisago County
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Authorities in Chisago County are asking for the public's help in finding a 27-year-old woman who has been missing since Saturday.
Danielle Jelinek was last seen on Saturday in Chisago City, a town north and east of Forest Lake in the north Twin Cities metro. The Chisago County Sheriff's Office said it's coordinating a ground search near her home Wednesday afternoon and is asking for the public's help to try and find her.
Jeilinek is without her phone, shoes, purse, money and identification. She is described as about 5 feet, 4 inches tall and about 120 pounds with dark brown hair and brown eyes. The Chisago County Sheriff's Office had a helicopter and deputies out searching for her Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities said her family called police to request a welfare check on her behalf at a residence near the area of Lofton Avenue and 261st Street. The residence was that of her boyfriend, Aaron Schnagl, who was not cooperative with police. Jelinek was not located at the residence, but authorities obtained a search warrant for the property and found her purse and cell phone. Schnagl was arrested on drug charges (marijuana was found), but he is not speaking to authorities.
"We're not calling Aaron a suspect," said Chisago County Sheriff Rick Duncan. "This is a missing person investigation right now. There's no suspects in missing persons ... and we haven't seen any foul play that would suggest at this point that Aaron is a suspect in this."
The community is helping the search efforts.
Cory Jelinek, Danielle's sister, made an emotional plea Wednesday afternoon, asking for the public to help them find her, and fast.
"She was my best friend and my sister and a fantastic aunt to her three nephews and she would never go missing like this," she said. "We're begging anyone with information to please come forward."
Aunt Lynn Bury added, "Danielle would never do this to her family -- she has some medical issues (asthma)."
Anyone with information on where she might be is asked to call the Chisago County Sheriff's Office at (651) 257-4100.
