Police: Roseville Apt. Drug Deal Leads To Robbery, Shooting
ROSEVILLE, Minn. (WCCO) -- A 19-year-old Little Canada man is in custody accused of being responsible for an aggravated robbery stemming from an attempted robbery-shooting incident Wednesday, according to Roseville Police.
At 7:33 p.m. on Wednesday, police were dispatched to 655 Larpenteur Ave. W. in Roseville on a report of shots fired. When they arrived, police spoke with witnesses who said an unknown suspect fired multiple pistol rounds at another person in the apartment parking lot. One of the bullets hit a lower level apartment.
Investigators learned that the suspect had fled the scene in a vehicle before they arrived, while the victim fled to an unknown apartment within the complex.
The 21-year-old robbery victim was located by police and found unharmed. Initially uncooperative, the victim claimed no knowledge of the robbery and shooting. After being confronted with witness statements, however, the admitted the robbery was the result of an illegal narcotics sale and acknowledged knowing the identity of the suspect, police said.
The 19-year-old suspect was later arrested at 1:40 a.m. Thursday by Maplewood Police on the 500 block of Skillman Avenue East.
The suspect is being held at the Ramsey County Law Enforcement Center on a probable cause aggravated robbery violation. Charges are expected Friday.
The suspect's name will not be released until the investigation is complete.
