Police Recover Stolen Aztec Drum, Trailer
ST. PAUL, Minn. (WCCO) -- With the help of the Roseville Police Department, the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office recovered the Aztec ceremonial drum and trailer on Monday that was reported stolen on April 26 from a Little Canada storage facility.
The sheriff's office said the trailer and drum were returned to Ce Tempoxcalli and the Danza Mexica Cuauhtemoc dance group on Monday.
The sheriff's office is also investigating the burglary and some items that are still missing. The artifacts stolen included musical instruments, traditional costumes and items used by the group in their cultural presentations and ceremonies throughout the year.
Twin Cities Transport and Recovery called Roseville Police on Monday to report that the trailer was in their impound lot and had been there since last November, when it was towed away during a heavy snowstorm. The trailer had been abandoned near the intersection of Lexington Ave. and County Road C2 in Roseville.
The company that towed the trailer tried to contact its owner, but it was to a school that no longer existed and the new owners had not yet transferred ownership.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office at (651) 266-7320.
