Police Raid Duluth Head Shop For Designer Drugs
DULUTH, Minn. (AP) -- Police have raided a Duluth head shop that has openly sold synthetic marijuana, "bath salts" and other designer drugs, and a clerk says officers have arrested the son of the owner.
Lava Haugen is a clerk at The Last Place on Earth and the girlfriend of its owner, Jim Carlson. She says an officer came in Wednesday and bought a bag of "herbal incense." She says police then arrested his son, took him to jail, and produced a warrant.
Haugen says about 15 officers are boxing up incense, other items and money, and going through files and records. She says they also confiscated Carlson's cell phone and computer.
Before the raid, Carlson said he's not selling any substances officially listed as banned but acknowledged he operates in a gray area.
