Police: Prank Fire Threatened Townhome, Elderly Woman
BROOKLYN PARK (WCCO) -- A fire intended as a prank ended up threatening a townhome and an elderly woman inside Brooklyn Park Monday night.
Police inspector Todd Milburn says a group was gathered on the driveway of a townhome complex on Hampshire Avenue when a man and a woman started a pile of yard waste on fire -- just for kicks:
"These two individuals were doing this for fun -- for pure entertainment" said Milburn."Unfortunately, things got out of hand very quickly for them and of course now they're dealing with some very significant consequences for that action."

Flames spread to the complex. An alert neighbor went inside and helped an elderly woman to safety. Crews were able to put out the fire rather quickly.
Now, the man and woman await charges based on the amount of property damage.
