Police: Mpls. Sexual Assault Suspect Arrested
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A 43-year-old man has been arrested in connection to the sexual assault of a woman in Minneapolis, according to Minneapolis Police.
On Dec. 8, police responded to the area of 34th Street East and Chicago Avenue South. There, a 33-year-old woman reported to police that she was sexually assaulted by a male stranger who followed her off of a bus.
On Thursday morning, police say VCAT officers -- acting on information from the Minneapolis Police's Sex Crimes Unit -- went to an address in the 500 block of Oliver Avenue North and located the suspect inside a residence. He was arrested without incident for an outstanding Ramsey County misdemeanor warrant.
Lt. Nancy Dunlap says that tips leading to the arrest of the man, identified as Kenneth Franklin Owens, came after the release of the suspect's photos Wednesday.
Owens is in the Hennepin County Jail for probable cause sexual assault and the outstanding warrant.
Owens' mug shot is not yet available due to investigative concerns.
