Police: Man Robs Liquor Store, Pulls Worker By Hair

BLOOMINGTON (WCCO) -- Police are searching for a man who allegedly robbed a Bloomington liquor store and assaulted an employee.

The incident happened around 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 3 when a man entered the Liquor Locker. After going to the cash register with a bottle of liquor and pretending to pay for it, the man took a gun out of his pocket and demanded cash from the register, according to Bloomington Police.

"(The gun was) big enough where he was having a difficult time taking it in and out of his pocket," said Commander Mark Stehlik.

The woman who was working gave the suspect cash and he stuffed it into his pockets. But then he goes behind the counter and pulls her away. He's seen in the surveillance video grabbing her by the hair and trying to pull her to the store's back room.

"We don't know if he had a plan to assault her, if he just wanted her back there to make his escape or what the deal was," Stehlik said. "It seemed like it hadn't been thought through very well."

The man then fled the scene.

The entire incident was caught on surveillance video and police are asking for help locating the suspect.

The woman told police the suspect was a white man, about 6 feet tall, weighing between 200-275 pounds. He was driving a red, SUV-type truck when he left the store.

If you recognize the man in the surveillance video, call Bloomington Police at (952) 563-4900.
