Police: Man Killed In Blaine Stabbing, Woman In Custody
BLAINE, Minn. (WCCO) -- Police are investigating a fatal stabbing in Blaine. It happened at an apartment building in the 8600 block of Davenport Street Northeast.
Officers responded around 9 p.m. Monday. When police arrived to Blaine Villa apartments, they found a 29-year-old man who had been stabbed. A 30-year-old woman has been taken into custody.
The landlord of the building, who didn't want to talk on camera, told WCCO the victim and suspect had just moved in about three months ago and stayed in the same unit. He also said a few disturbances had been reported to him involving commotion and domestic issues.
Police say the victim had stab wounds to his chest and stomach. He died at the scene.
Kelsey Gardner just moved into her Blaine Villa apartment Monday night. She says she didn't hear anything leading up to the incident, but did see a heavy police presence.
"I actually had friends here last night and they helped me and went into my daughter's room because it has a full view of the parking lot. There were like 'there's six cop cars here' and we just looked outside and we saw cop cars," Gardner said.
Police say two children were also living in the apartment. It's unclear if they were home at the time of the incident. Investigators say they have been placed in a safe location by child protection services.
The identities of the man and woman have not been released
Police have not released information on what might have led up to the stabbing. All we know at this point is that the Anoka County attorney's office will review the case and determine whether or not to file criminal charges.
