Police: Man Enters Dakota County Building With Fake Gun
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – Officials in Dakota County said a building in the east Twin Cities metro was put on lockdown Thursday morning after a man was spotted with a gun, police said.
Officials said they were searching the Dakota County Northern Service Center in West St. Paul at about 9:15 a.m. An investigation revealed the man was carrying a fake gun with the intent of having police kill him. About 40 officers from several area departments responded to the scene to search for the suspect.
Officials said the building contains several Dakota County offices and at least two courtrooms.
The suspect, whose name has not been released, has beed identified as a 53-year-old Inver Grove Heights man. He was located at about 10:35 a.m. and taken into custody without incident on the third floor of the building. Nobody was hurt in the incident and police said he did not have a weapon on him at the time of the arrest.
