Police: Man Drives Drunk, Commits Hit-&-Run With Kid In Car
ST. CLOUD, Minn. (WCCO) -- A 31-year-old Willmar man is accused of driving intoxicated and committing a hit-and-run that injured a woman, all while having a 7-year-old passenger, according to St. Cloud Police.
On Saturday at 8:40 p.m., police officers responded to a hit-and-run complaint near Highway 15 and 8th Street North in St. Cloud. A 45-year-old woman, Theresa Ann Solarz, was injured in the crash and treated for injuries at the St. Cloud Hospital.
Near the area at Highway 23 and 29th Avenue, police located the suspect vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. An investigation revealed that the hit-and-run vehicle was driven by Richard Emmit Jones, who was intoxicated, police said.
Jones' 7-year-old passenger was not injured during the crash.
Jones is being held at the Stearns County Jail for first-degree DWI, criminal vehicular operation, driving after cancellation inimical to public safety, leaving the scene of an accident, an ignition interlock violation and a child seat violation.
According to police, Jones has had three previous convictions for DWI-related offenses, which enhanced the violation to a felony.
