Police Search For Suspects In 2 St. Cloud Robberies
ST. CLOUD, Minn. (WCCO) – Authorities in St. Cloud are looking for as many as five men in connection with a Saturday morning robbery.
St. Cloud Police responded to a report of a robbery at about 2:08 a.m. Saturday in the area of 7th Avenue South and 8th Street South in St. Cloud. When they arrived, officers met with a 22-year-old Hibbing man who told them he had been robbed by five black males.
The victim told police he was walking southbound towards his residence when he was approached by a group of five black men wearing handkerchiefs over their faces. They told the victim to get on the ground and took personal items from him before leaving the scene and heading towards the downtown area.
Officers checked the area and were unable to locate the suspects.
About 10 minutes later, St. Cloud police responded to a report of a robbery on the 600 block of 13th Street South. A 47-year-old man told police he had been robbed at gunpoint by three black men. The victim was a cab driver who had just dropped off a customer when he was approached by a black man asking for a cab, police said.
The man then signaled two other men, and one of them displayed a silver handgun to the victim and demanded cash. The three suspects left the scene with an undisclosed amount of money.
Authorities won't say if the two incidents are related. Anyone with information about either incident is asked to call St. Cloud Police at (320) 251-1200.
