Homeowner Shot After Interrupting Burglary In St. Louis Park
ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. (WCCO) – Authorities are on the scene of an apparent shooting in St. Louis Park Thursday afternoon, according to St. Louis Park Dispatch.
St. Louis Park Police Chief John Luse said officers responded to a report of a possible shooting at 2:14 p.m. Thursday on the 9300 block of Cedar Lake Road. When authorities arrived, they discovered a resident who had suffered a gunshot injury. The victim was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center.
A friend identified the victim as 58-year-old Eric Wright Zahniser, who is one of the registered homeowners of the residence. A man, with the same name, is listed in critical condition at Hennepin County Medical Center.
Authorities said they believe Zahniser had returned home and interrupted a burglary in progress. The suspect fled the scene before officers arrived. The suspect is described as a black male with dreadlocks wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and stocking cap.
He was believed to be driving a 1990s vintage Pontiac Trans Am or similar type of vehicle with blue flames or decals on the side and hood of the car.
