Police Investigate Winona State Student's Death
WINONA, Minn. (WCCO/AP) -- A Winona State University student was found dead in her dorm room Wednesday -- the second college student to die in Winona in recent days.
Winona Police Department officers were dispatched to Morey Hall on the Winona State University campus around 9:30 a.m. on the report of an unresponsive woman.
The university says 19-year-old freshman Monica Gadient of Goodhue had died unexpectedly.
An autopsy will be performed at the Dakota County Medical Examiner's Office. Police say there were no signs of foul play and Gadient appeared to have been alone at the time of her death.
The incident is currently under investigation.
On Saturday, St. Mary's University freshman Millie Harrison of Colorado Springs, Colo., died of natural causes. She was also 19.
Counseling and support services are available to members of both university communities.
