Police Investigate 'Suspicious' Mpls. Parking Ramp Death
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Minneapolis police are investigating what they're calling a suspicious death at a downtown parking ramp on Saturday night.
Police were called to the Downtown Auto Park on LaSalle Ave. shortly after 9 p.m. There, they found a woman lying on the cement with stab sounds. She died at the scene.
Police said the public is not in any danger because of this incident.
"I think when things like this occur, it is a concern to the citizens who really aren't entitled to have key information we have at this point," said Lt. Todd Loining.
Authorities kept the ramp closed for hours to investigate when thousands are in town for PRIDE.
"We've got a lot of folks coming out of different events, downtown, so that's been challenging for us to get the citizens out of the park ramp in a timely manner," said Loining.
The parking ramp does have video surveillance, an emergency alert system and security staff on site. Drivers who used the ramp, Sunday, said those measures alone make them feel safe.
"I'm not extremely concerned about safety. It's pretty safe to me," said Kate Dahl.
The woman's name has not been released. Police have not said what led to the stabbing.
Police said Monday that they are not looking for any suspects.
