Missing Baby In Brooklyn Park Found; 2 Arrested
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A man and woman have been arrested after a missing 2-month-old boy was found in St. Paul Tuesday afternoon, according to police.
At 6:15 a.m. Tuesday, Brooklyn Park Police responded to the 5500 block of Brookdale Drive in Brooklyn Park on the report of the missing boy.
The mother of Elijah Alonzo said the boy was last seen around 1 a.m. on her couch.
After an "extensive search and investigation," police located the boy safe and sound in St. Paul at around 3:30 p.m.
The two people, who are known to the missing boy's mother, were placed under arrest.
The family told WCCO that they are overjoyed that the boy was found, but are shocked at the betrayal of the "trusted family friend," who was one of the people arrested and a guest at the mother's home Monday evening.
The family friend even went to the Brooklyn Park Police Department to comfort the family while Elijah was missing in St. Paul.
Elijah's grandmother, Esther Baker, said there are no words to describe how being reunited with her grandson felt.
"I feel so blessed," she said. "Just ecstatic."
Police said they have not yet established motive and the family said they have no idea why the family friend allegedly took the child -- she has four children of her own.
The female suspect's family went to comfort Baker on Tuesday. The female suspect's mother said it was "really hard" to learn that her daughter allegedly kidnapped Elijah.
