Police Investigate Isanti Home Invasion
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Police in Isanti are investigating a home invasion robbery attempt that happened around noon Wednesday.
The Isanti Police Department said several agencies were called to the 600 block of Whiskey Road Southwest.
Isanti Police Chief Ron Sager said that a man was at home when he heard some sound in the garage.
The man went to check it out, but instead, a struggle happened between him and two other men who were in the garage. They were armed with handguns and dressed head-to-toe in black, but the victim was able to quickly flee the home and call police.
When officers arrived, they set up a perimeter for a period of time and used dogs for tracking.
Sager said the crime appears to be random. He added that, right now, it doesn't appear if anything was stolen from the home.
Recently, there have been other reports of robberies in that area that may be connected to this incident.
Sager said this kind of event is extremely unusual and has only happened twice in his 20 years with the force.
Meanwhile, no one has been arrested, but police are looking for a dark blue Oldsmobile Intrigue that the men may have gotten away in.
