Fire That Destroyed Minneapolis Church Ruled Arson
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- A huge fire that destroyed an old church in Minneapolis has been ruled an arson, according to the Minneapolis Fire Department.
At around 2:02 a.m. Monday morning, fire crews were called to the two-alarm fire at 3115 E. 42nd St. When they arrived, they said there was heavy smoke and fire located in three different spots inside the vacant building.
The building, which used to be home to a church and a furniture store, sustained heavy fire damage and has been demolished. Fire crews cleared the scene by 1 p.m.
No one was hurt in the fire, but arson investigators are looking into the case.
Firefighters said 42nd Ave. South between 31st and Hiawatha Ave. was closed to traffic as crews put out some hot spots.
