Police: Infant Died After Mother Fell Asleep On Him
COTTAGE GROVE, Minn. (WCCO) -- Police say a 3-week-old infant suffocated and died after his mother fell asleep on top of him.
According to Cottage Grove Police, they received a call around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday to a home where the newborn boy was not breathing.
Rescue personnel performed CPR and the infant was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Ramsey County Medical Examiner's preliminary findings showed the infant died of asphyxia and ruled the death was accidental.
Authorities are still investigating and the case will be forwarded to the Washington County Attorney's Office to review for possible charges.
