Police Hope Taxi Stands Will Reduce Congestion In Uptown
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- In an effort to alleviate traffic congestion in the busy Uptown area of Minneapolis, additional taxi-stands are opening up.

"With the warmer weather, there are more people out on the streets and more cars in the area, and the cabs don't have enough places to park," said Minneapolis Police spokesman Sgt. Stephen McCarty. "It will also provide easier access for transportation for the patrons to the area."
The four new stands will be functional starting Friday night.
McCarty says he hopes that cutting down on traffic will allow Uptown become a safer environment for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists.
The new stands will make room for up to 15 cabs, spread across four different locations.
