Police: Head-On Collision Kills 2, Injures 1 In Long Lake
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A head-on collision in Long Lake killed two people Monday night and closed Highway 12 as authorities investigate the accident, Orono police said.
Police said the accident happened shortly after 8 p.m. and killed a man and a woman who were traveling together. Another man driving a pick-up truck was also injured in the collision; he was taken, by helicopter, to North Memorial Medical Center.
Police said the he suffered serious injuries and that he is a 54-year-old man from Maple Plaine.
What caused the accident is unknown, and the identities of the victims have not yet been released.
The State Patrol is working to reconstruct the accident and Highway 12 will remain closed as they conduct the investigation.
