Police Find Woman Shot, Killed In Mpls. Home
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) -- Minneapolis Police are looking for the person who shot and killed a woman in broad daylight while a child was watching.
Officers were called to a shooting that happened at a home in the 1700 block of Glenwood Ave. around 4:45 p.m. Saturday.
Police arrived and found a woman with a gunshot wound inside the home, but she had already died.
Officers said the victim did not live in the house where she died.
"We don't know exactly who she is or let alone where she lives," said Sgt. Steve McCarty, with the Minneapolis Police.
No arrests have been made yet, but police don't believe the shooting was random. They said the shooter knows the victim and the public is not in danger.
"We don't feel as there is a crazed person running around the neighborhood shooting up people," said McCarty.
Neighbors are worried, however. Witnesses said a small child was inside when the shooting happened. That child is in protective custody.
The Minneapolis Homicide Unit, Forensic Crime Lab, and Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office are investigating.

The identity of the woman and her exact cause of death won't be released until the investigation is complete.
This is the 16th homicide in Minneapolis this year.
