Police: Elderly Man Hit By Car, Killed In Maple Grove
MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) – A driver struck and killed an elderly man in Maple Grove early Friday morning, police said.
Capt. Tracy Stille, of the Maple Grove Police Department, said authorities got a call about the incident, which occurred near the intersection of County Road 30 and Ranchview Lane, at 6:36 a.m.
When emergency crews arrived at the scene, they found a dead man, police said.
Stille said the man appeared to have crossed County Road 30 in a non-designated crossing area when he was hit by a car driven by a man who, after the collision, stopped fully and cooperated with police. The driver is not in custody.
The incident does not seem to be a suicide, Stille said. He believes it was a tragic accident.
The State Patrol is investigating the incident, and the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office will release the name of the victim.
